The term Al-‘Amilina ‘Alayha refers to the individuals entrusted with the administrative responsibilities of Zakat.

These are the individuals appointed by Muslim leaders or authorities to ensure the proper collection, safekeeping, and distribution of Zakat funds. They play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operation of this pillar of Islam, ensuring that it reaches the right recipients.

The role of Al-‘Amilina ‘Alayha is vital. They act as intermediaries. They connect the Zakat payers, who are obligated to give Zakat, with the eligible recipients (Masarif-e-Zakat). These recipients include the poor and needy, who are entitled to receive Zakat.

Their duties can be summarized as follows:

  • Collection of Zakat

They are responsible for gathering Zakat from those obligated to pay it. This includes managing the calculation of Zakat and ensuring all eligible individuals contribute the correct amount.

  • Safeguarding the Zakat Funds

Once collected, Al-‘Amilina ‘Alayha must ensure the Zakat funds are securely stored and protected from misuse or theft.

  • Distribution of Zakat

They are also tasked with distributing the collected Zakat to the rightful recipients, such as the poor, orphans, and those in need, under the prescribed categories in Islamic law.

Thus, Al-‘Amilina ‘Alayha serves as the administrative body ensuring that Zakat is properly managed, safeguarded, and distributed. Their role is essential for maintaining the integrity of the Zakat system, ensuring that the charitable funds fulfill their intended purpose.

And Allah knows best!
