Yes, it is acceptable to pay your Zakat to your neighbor if they meet the criteria of Zakat eligibility as outlined in Islam.

Zakat can only be given to individuals who fall under specific categories mentioned in the Quran, such as the poor (faqir), the needy (miskin), and others who are in genuine financial need.

If your neighbor is struggling financially, unable to meet their basic needs, or burdened by debt, they may qualify to receive Zakat (Masarif-e-Zakat). However, it is important to ensure that they fall under one of the eligible categories before giving them Zakat.

Giving Zakat to someone simply because they are your neighbor, without confirming their eligibility, would not fulfill the requirements of Zakat.

You can pay your Zakat to your neighbor if they are genuinely in need and meet the criteria for receiving Zakat.

It is worth noting that if you have both a needy relative and a needy neighbor, it is preferable to give Zakat to the relative.

Supporting relatives with Zakat not only fulfills the obligation of charity but also strengthens family ties, which is encouraged in Islam.

However, if you do not have any needy relatives, giving Zakat to your neighbor is entirely permissible and a commendable act.

And Allah knows best!
