Hifza's story

My name is Hifza Liaquat. I'm 17 years old, from Rawalpindi. I'm in my second year of FSc Pre-Medical, and my last result was an A.

Two years ago I lost my father, Liaquat Hussain. Since then my mother has done everything she can to keep my brothers, my sisters and me in school, and we have stood by each other through a very hard time.

I want to become a Doctor, inshallah. I'm giving my studies everything I have, so my results can make my family proud. Will you help me take the next step?

“I am becoming a Doctor.”

Questions

What is the Papa Jani Scholarship Program?

A monthly education sponsorship run by Pakistan Sweet Home and managed by Parwaaz, for orphan students already enrolled at schools, colleges and universities across Pakistan who cannot afford to continue.

We do not wait for a donor. PSH starts paying a scholar's fees from its general fund as soon as they are selected, and their profile goes live so a donor can take over the monthly commitment.

These scholars live at home with their families, so your contribution goes to their fees.

What does my monthly sponsorship actually pay for?

Your monthly contribution covers this scholar's education fees. The amount varies by their level of study:

  • School students (Class 6 to 10): approximately PKR 15,000 per month
  • College students (Class 11 to 12): approximately PKR 30,000 per month
  • University students: approximately PKR 50,000 per month

PSH pays the institution directly by cheque. No cash is ever given to the student or family.

Fees vary by institution, so donors pay a fixed monthly amount. Where yours exceeds the fee that month, the surplus goes to the general fund covering unsponsored scholars — and the actual figures are both on your dashboard.

About 90% of your contribution reaches this scholar's education; the remaining 10% covers salaries, administration and outreach.

Does this scholar live at Pakistan Sweet Home?

No. Scholars live at home with their families. They have lost their father and are already enrolled, but cannot fund the fees — so PSH supports their education, not their housing.

To sponsor a child who lives on a PSH campus, our residential programmes are separate:

  • Boarding school students: $99 per month
  • Day scholars: $59 per month
  • Cadet college students: $149 per month
  • University students (PSH alumni in external hostels): $149 per month
How was this scholar selected?

Every scholar in this program went through a rigorous selection process:

  • Verified loss of father and Pakistani citizenship
  • Currently enrolled in Class 6 or above, or at university
  • Minimum 80% result in their most recent exam
  • Submitted a personal statement
  • Passed a panel interview

We only select students who demonstrate both financial need and academic commitment.

What is the difference between a scholar and a PSH residential student?

One difference decides it: a residential student has no family home, so PSH provides everything. A scholar has one, and needs only their fees covered so they do not drop out.

  • Boarding students ($99/month): live at a PSH campus year round — food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and education.
  • Cadet college students ($149/month): boarding at an affiliated cadet college, which is what the higher fee reflects.
  • Day scholars ($59/month): school by day, home in the evening. PSH covers education and meals during school hours.
  • Papa Jani Scholars: fees only, paid to the institution. They live at home, or in an approved hostel at university.

Every one of these children has lost their father. Only the kind of support they need differs, and your sponsorship goes to whichever programme the child you choose is in.

More children are waiting

PSH is already caring for them. A sponsor keeps them in school until they finish.
